Preparations Begin to Re-Open to Two-Way Traffic

MAIN STREET UPDATE

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

ACCOMPLISHED

  • Installation of the fascia stone continued on the walls in the plaza area.
  • Installation of the pavers continued on the corner of Main Street and Mason-Montgomery Road.
  • Sidewalk installation work has begun in the plaza area.
  • Pavement restoration work was completed for some curb cuts along Main Street.
  • Milling of the pavement continued and the intermediate course of asphalt is being placed.
  • Iron benches have been placed downtown in front of several stores.
  • Embarq has begun tying in conduits for underground service installation.

OUTLOOK FOR THE NEXT TWO WEEKS:

  • Crews will finish paving the intermediate course of asphalt. Upon completion (and weather permitting), the workers can begin temporary roadway striping.
  • Crews will begin pouring cement in the plaza area.
  • Street tree installation will begin in the planting areas.
  • Driveway aprons will be poured for Muennich’s Garage and Gary’s Barber Shop.
  • Paver installation will continue at Mason-Montgomery Road and Main Street.
  • Sidewalks will be poured along Main Street.

MASON-MONTGOMERY ROAD PROJECT

ACCOMPLISHED THUS FAR:

  • Roadway milling has been completed.
  • Crews replaced a section of the driveway apron in front of the fire station.
  • Installation work has begun on the retaining wall.
  • Duke Energy removed their utility poles from the roadway.

OUTLOOK FOR NEXT TWO WEEKS:

  • Retaining wall installation will be completed.
  • Paving of the intermediate course of asphalt will be completed. Upon completion, crews will begin temporary striping of the roadway and will prepare to re-open to two-way traffic.
  • Embarq will complete their relocation work and remove the old utility poles.
