Weekly Update - December 19, 2007

MAIN STREET UPDATE

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

ACCOMPLISHED

  • Paver installation work continued on the plaza and in bands of the sidewalk areas.
  • Sidewalk installation continued in front of the Embarq building and in the plaza area.
  • Crews completed work on the stone fascia for all of the walls in the plaza area.
  • Installation work continued on the irrigation system.
  • Embarq began pulling cable for underground conduits.
  • Workers continued electric line upgrades on South West Street and Reading Road.

OUTLOOK FOR THE NEXT TWO WEEKS:

  • Paver installation will continue in the plaza area.
  • Sidewalk installation will continue in the plaza area and some miscellaneous sections throughout the project.
  • Irrigation installation will continue for the planting areas in the plaza.
  • Crews will install landscaping in the plaza planting areas.

NOTES OF INTEREST:

  • There will be a 2-week period of inactivity during the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. The next downtown update will be January 9, 2008.
  • Work will resume in January with a reduced work force and as weather conditions allow.

MASON-MONTGOMERY ROAD PROJECT

ACCOMPLISHED THUS FAR:

  • Duke Energy has pulled the remaining utility poles.
  • Lighting system installation continued.
  • Crews have re-opened East North Street to traffic.

OUTLOOK FOR NEXT TWO WEEKS:

  • Lighting system installation will continue.
