SAFETY ISSUES

  • Traffic violations: The Mason Police Department is working to eliminate speeding and other traffic violations in the residential sections adjacent to downtown. From June 25 to July 1, police issued 36 traffic tickets, 18 written warnings, and 3 verbal warnings for traffic offenses on West Church Street. A speed box was installed in the 400 block of West Church Street. This data is being used to coordinate increased police visibility in the area.

Police have also handled several complaints of persons driving the wrong way on the one way street in front of Mason Central. Stop sign violations also continue to be an issue in the one and two hundred blocks of West Church Street. A stop sign was added to the back of the barricade on East North and Church to increase driver awareness of the need to stop at the stop sign.
