Weekly Update - August 15, 2007

MAIN STREET UPDATE

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

ACCOMPLISHED

  • Excavation work was completed on the south side of Main Street between Reading and Mason-Montgomery roads and on the north side between Mason-Montgomery Road and North East Street.
  • Stone base has been installed for the curbs along the south side of Main Street between Reading and Mason-Montgomery Road.
  • The main conduit and pull boxes for the underground electric, telephone and cable have been installed along Main Street and Reading Road. Mainline is starting to install the conduit from the pull boxes to the individual buildings.

OUTLOOK FOR THE NEXT TWO WEEKS:

  • Installation of curbs on Main Street and Reading Road will begin. Once curbs are installed, the contractor will begin backfilling and prepping for sidewalks.
  • Installation of conduit will continue from the pull boxes to the individual buildings.
  • Duke Energy will be setting poles to allow for the transition of the utilities from overhead to underground.
  • Installation of asphalt along Reading Road will begin.
OTHER ISSUES:

  • Mainline will continue to work on maintaining existing gravel sidewalks.

MASON-MONTGOMERY ROAD PROJECT

ACCOMPLISHED THUS FAR:

  • Duke Gas continued installation of the gas main at the intersection of Church Street and Mason-Montgomery Road.
  • Installation of stone base for curbs was completed.
  • Curbs were poured on both sides of Mason-Montgomery Road.
  • Catch basins and manholes were adjusted to grade.

OUTLOOK FOR NEXT TWO WEEKS:

  • Installation of the curbs on the east side of Mason-Montgomery Road will begin.
  • Duke Gas will be completing the installation of the new gas main.
  • Installation will begin on the conduit for the new street lighting.
  • Driveway apron installation will begin.
