Weekly Update - August 22, 2007

MAIN STREET UPDATE

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

ACCOMPLISHED

  • Curbs were installed along the east end of Main Street and parts of Reading Road.
  • Crews continued working on grading and preparing for asphalt for a new intersection near the old Speedway lot.
  • Mainline is installing the conduit from the pull boxes to the individual buildings.

OUTLOOK FOR THE NEXT TWO WEEKS:

  • Installation of conduit will continue from the pull boxes to the individual buildings.
  • Installation of foundations for street lights will begin.
  • Paving of asphalt in areas where the curb has been installed will begin.
  • Curb installation will continue. Once complete, workers will start prepping for sidewalks beginning in front of the Fifth Third Bank building.
  • Crews will be removing a section of Main Street in order to install a new sanitary line and tie-in for the existing portion of Main Street to the new roadway. This will require short-term closure of Main Street between Forest Avenue and Reading Road for approximately three days. Access to businesses will be maintained.
  • Installation of a gas main between Forest Avenue and Reading Road will begin.
OTHER ISSUES:

  • The gas contractor will be installing gas main at the intersection of Mason-Montgomery Road and Main Street. A portion of this work will be done during the evening hours, when traffic is minimal.

MASON-MONTGOMERY ROAD PROJECT

ACCOMPLISHED THUS FAR:

  • Curbs were installed on both the east and west side of Mason-Montgomery Road (except in front of the firehouse).
  • Grading for asphalt continues.
  • Installation began of conduit for street lights.
  • Duke Energy has installed the new utility poles and will begin transferring the new lines.

OUTLOOK FOR NEXT TWO WEEKS:

  • Paving work will continue along the east side of Mason-Montgomery Road.
  • Installation of sidewalks will begin along the west side of Mason-Montgomery Road.
  • Crews will be replacing the drives that were removed during the road widening.
