CONSTRUCTION NEWS:

  • Pavers were installed along the parking lot area, in front of Miami Valley Floral, and in the paver strip at the Embarq building. Paver installation will continue next week.

  • Coping will be installed for all stone walls on the project.
  • Handrails will be installed in the plaza area.
  • Planting areas will continue to be mulched.
  • Crews will re-stripe the temporary roadway striping along Mason-Montgomery Road.
  • Duke Energy crews have removed the remaining electrical lines between N. West and N. East streets.
  • Embarq crews have continued splicing the new phone cable in various locations.

NOTES OF INTEREST:

  • Fun Fact: As crews continue to install landscaping areas, it is worth noting that workers have planted 28 trees and more than 1,900 other shrubs, perennials, and ground cover plants. It is well known that trees renew our air supply by absorbing carbon dioxide and producing oxygen. One tree produces more than 250 pounds of oxygen each year and 28 trees could remove up to two tons of carbon dioxide each year, or the equivalent of a car driven over 8,000 miles!
  • While repairing a water leak on N. West Street last week, Greater Cincinnati Water Works hit a gas main. Duke Energy responded quickly and repaired the damage. As a precaution, the Mason Fire Department evacuated one business and two residences until the necessary repairs were made.
