Downtown Construction
Weekly Update - March 19, 2008
CONSTRUCTION NEWS:
- Installation of the downtown streetlights continues.
- Work continued on the traffic signal.
- Depending on weather conditions, the traffic signal at Reading Road and West Main Street will be placed into flash mode within the next few weeks. It will then be placed into full operation approximately a week later.
- Utility companies will continue work transferring utilities to the new lines.
NOTES OF INTEREST:
- Due to the obvious weather conditions, work will continue to be limited for the next several weeks. Downtown streetlight work will continue for the next couple of weeks as weather allows. When warmer weather develops, the other lighting control foundation will be poured and lighting control cabinets will be installed.
- Fun Fact: The first official day of spring (March 20) is upon us! Spring is seen as a time of growth and renewal. This is a time of new life. The term is also used more generally as a metaphor for the start of better times.
Spring in Mason also means a time for visual growth with the ongoing construction. Last spring, the full streetscape revitalization began as the third phase of the project. Conduit for the underground utilities was placed in the sidewalks as they were replaced. On-street parking was installed on West Main Street from Reading to Mason-Montgomery Road. 2008 promises to show even more growth and renewal!
The first day of spring is one thing, and the first spring day is another. The difference between them is sometimes as great as a month. ~ Henry Van Dyke
