NOTES OF INTEREST:

  • On April 22, 1970, 20 million people across the US celebrated the first Earth Day. Through the combined efforts of the US government, grassroots organizations, and environmentally conscious citizens, what started as a day of national environmental recognition has evolved into a world-wide campaign to protect the environment. Since the first Earth Day, people have become more globally aware and observe this special day to look and see what needs changing. As a continued effort to be more conscious on the local level, the City of Mason maintains its certification as a Tree City USA and continues to make strides towards a greener environment.
