Weekly Update - May 7, 2008
CONSTRUCTION NEWS:
- Crews continued to remove curbs and sidewalks that were damaged during construction.
- Workers completed installation of the wall coping in the plaza area.
- Installation of the traffic island at North West Street was completed.
- The streetlights have been connected and are now operational. City officials and Downtown Mason Association members gathered at dusk on the plaza on Monday, May 5, to turn on the new lights for the first time.
- The plaza irrigation system has been completed and is now operational.
- Restoration and seeding of disturbed areas with topsoil continues.
- Embarq continues splicing telephone cables to the new cables.
- Cincinnati Bell resumed splicing fiber optic lines.
NOTES OF INTEREST:
- The United States celebrates Mother's Day on the second Sunday in May. In the United States, Mother's Day was loosely inspired by the British day and was imported by social activist Julia Ward Howe after the American Civil War.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to visit downtown Mason and shop at the local businesses. Merchants, including Main Street Sweets, Baysore’s and Teas Roses, will be offering specials through the weekend.
