Utility Relocation and Upgrades Work Continue

Weekly Update - May 14, 2008

CONSTRUCTION NEWS:

  • Crews continue to replace curbs and sidewalks that were damaged during construction.
  • Top soil restoration and seeding continues for disturbed areas.
  • Paver installation work continues.
  • Embarq continues splicing old telephone cables to the new cables.
  • Duke Energy removed the remainder of their power lines and overhead street lights.
  • The contractor is currently waiting for Cincinnati Bell to complete their utility relocation. Cincinnati Bell has started removing their fiber optic lines and the remaining utility poles. This should be completed by the end of May. Once they are done, crews can finish the remaining sidewalks and curbs, and pave the surface course of asphalt.
  • Workers continue to work on smaller tasks and “punch list” items throughout the project area.

NOTES OF INTEREST:

  • On May 15th, Mason native Dan Patrick celebrates his 52nd birthday. Patrick is a sportscaster/celebrity/commercial spokesman, who is well known for his work on ESPN, CNN, and Sports Illustrated. He has covered every major US sporting event and has appeared on Late Night with David Letterman, Howard Stern, and Jimmy Kimmel Live. Patrick has also appeared in hit moviesI Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry and The Waterboy, as well as music videos for Hootie & the Blowfish and Brad Paisley. He was named Sportscaster of the Year in 2000, won an Emmy in 1998, and guest-hosted Good Morning America in 1996. Patrick currently hosts the nationally-syndicated The Dan Patrick Show.

    Patrick was an All-State basketball player at Mason High School. He later attended the University of Dayton, where he recently received the Distinguished Alumni Award.
