David Nichols is New Mason Mayor
David Nichols was elected Mayor at the organizational meeting of Mason City Council on Thursday, December 1. Victor Kidd was named Vice Mayor.
Mayor Nichols served as Vice Mayor for the past two years. He was first appointed to Council in the fall of 2008 to fill a vacant seat and was elected to a 4-year term in 2009.
Vice Mayor Kidd returned to Council after a little more than a 2-year absence. He was first elected in 2001 and was reelected in 2005. He served until early 2009 when he resigned to take a temporary position in Hawaii.
Both Mayor Nichols and Vice Mayor Kidd will serve in their positions for two years.
In addition to the swearing in of Mr. Nichols as mayor and Mr. Kidd as council member and vice mayor, two other council members were sworn in. Tom Grossmann, who served on council for eight years prior to taking a 2-year break, was reelected in November. Barbara Berry-Spaeth won election in November for her first term. Both will serve four years.
