With more than 2,000 young people taking part in the Mason Community Center youth sports programs, we are helping to develop self-confidence, physical health and well-being, and a cooperative, team attitude in our youth. Much of what is learned in these programs will set them on the road for a lifetime of healthy activity. We offer programs in baseball, basketball, football, golf, soccer, sports introduction, swim team, tennis, track and field.

BASEBALL

Start Smart Baseball will prepare younger children for future league play. Players 7 to 14 can test their skills is the spring at the Pitch, Hit and Run competition and try to advance to the National Finals. Tee ball, Little League Baseball, softball, and fast-pitch play for boys and girls are organized by Mason Youth Organization (MYO).

City of Mason offerings:

BASKETBALL

Four- to 5-year old children can begin learning the techniques of basketball through the Start Smart program, then move on to league play.

The City of Mason, in cooperation with Mason Youth Basketball, offers an annual youth basketball program in the fall and winter. Instructional and recreational leagues do not require tryouts and are for children of all skill levels. An athletic league for girls and boys in grades 3 - 6 does require tryouts.

Grades 1-4 sign up as individuals only. Teams are selected in October.

Grades 5-6 core teams will be kept together unless a parent requests a different coach. Individual sign-ups will be randomly assigned to available teams.

In grades 7-12, players are encouraged to form their own teams and to sign up together. Teams will be formed at this age level if there are enough players and if enough parents are willing to coach.

City of Mason offerings:

FOOTBALL

The Start Smart Football program for 4- and 5-years olds will introduce your child to basic football skills. Football leagues for school-age children are sponsored by Mason Youth Football. Each fall, the City of Mason sponsors the NFL Punt, Pass and Kick (PPK) program, a national skills competition allowing boys and girls between the ages of 8 and 15 to compete separately against their peers.

City of Mason offerings:

GOLF

Prepare your 5- to 7-year-old child for golf with Start Smart Golf.

SOCCER

The Start Smart program has a soccer element to help you get your 4- to 5-year-old child ready for soccer in a fun, friendly environment. Soccer leagues are organized by Mason S.A.Y. Soccer.

City of Mason offerings:

SPORTS INTRODUCTION (all sports)

Our Sporties for Shorties general class will introduce 3- and 4-year olds to a variety of sports.

SWIM TEAM

The Mason Water Moccasins and Mason Manta Rays swim teams provide competitive swimming at all levels.  Find out more about each team's unique attributes here.

TENNIS

Classes of varying skill levels are offered for ages 4 through 18.

TRACK AND FIELD

Each June, the City of Mason sponsors the local qualifier of the Hershey’s National Track and Field Games for boys and girls ages 9 to 14 years old. It's the largest youth sports program of its kind in the United States and Canada.  Track and field meets take place in every state and province in North America. Hundreds of athletes make it to the grand finale—the North American Final. Click here for more information.

The City of Mason also offers the Youth Running Club for ages 10 to 14. Runners will develop teamwork, self-discipline, sportsmanship, and goal achievement through running.
