Mark your calendars for the annual Heritage Festival and Parade taking place on Saturday, September 14 at the Mason Municipal Center Campus! The event will feature kids’ activities, carnival games, crafts, vendors, music entertainment and more! The event will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the annual parade followed by activities and entertainment until 4:00 p.m. The event is free and open to the public and is sure to include fun for all ages!
In addition to family fun and entertainment, the City of Mason continues to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the American Legion organization and thanks the local American Legion Post 194 for their ongoing contribution to local veterans and the Mason Community.
The annual Heritage Festival Parade will begin at 10:00 a.m. near the downtown plaza on US Route 42. The parade will head east on US Route 42 and continue south on Mason Montgomery Road towards the Mason Municipal Center. Guests are encouraged to watch the parade near the Mason Municipal Center to enjoy short performances by parade participants!
Patrons are encouraged to stop by American Legion Post 194 prior to or after the parade for breakfast as they continue to raise money for Operations 194, which will help build a home for veterans in need! The breakfast is taking place from 8:00 a.m. until noon. Made to order omelettes, pancakes and buffet breakfast is $8 for adults and $4 for children ages 12 and under. The American Legion Post 194 is located at 401 Reading Road.

The annual Heritage Festival will begin at 11:00 a.m. on the Mason Municipal Campus immediately following the parade. Food vendors and kids activities will be open throughout the day until 4:00 p.m. The community is encouraged to come out and enjoy various local food vendors and exhibitors while enjoying live music!

New at the 2019 Heritage Festival, the City of Mason will be introducing a fun scavenger hunt activity aimed at continuing Mason’s mission of building a culture of wellness in the community! “Heritage Hunt” participants will have the opportunity to get out and get active by visiting various locations and areas throughout the City that showcase the City’s amenities and quality of life we have to offer here in Mason.
Heritage Hunt will take place between 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 14 as part of the Heritage Festival event. Beginning at noon, the City will be releasing a clue every 30 minutes on Facebook and Twitter that provide participants with hints as to where prizes have been hid throughout the community. All locations are located within a mile radius of the Mason Municipal Campus. Hidden Prizes will include $50 gift cards from local businesses including Quatman Café, Little Rascal’s Photography, Basil’s on Market, Lavish Grace Salon and Boutique, AR Workshop Mason, Sterling Seraph, Mason Community Center, City of Mason Golf Center and more!
Beginning at 6:30 a.m. U.S. 42/Reading Road and Main Street from Fifth Avenue to Mason Montgomery Road will be closed due to parade staging and assembly. Mason Montgomery Road from Main Street to Lakeside Drive will be closed beginning at 9:30 a.m. through the duration of the parade. The road will reopen at the conclusion of the parade which is anticipated to occur around 11:30 a.m. Detour signs will be posted prior to the parade. The Mason Municipal Campus can be accessed from Nixon Park Drive during this time.

REV IT UP 5K
The City of Mason is partnering again this year with Mitsubishi Electric Automotive America to host the Rev It Up 5K race in conjunction with the annual Heritage Festival and Parade! The 5k race will take place throughout Mason’s Corwin M. Nixon Park and Pine Hill Lakes Park prior to the parade. A portion of the race proceeds benefit the Mason Parks and Recreation and Makino Park here in the Mason Community.
