On July 13, 2026, the City of Mason unveiled ‘Legacy Park’ – Mason’s newly branded tennis and golf campus, home to the Cincinnati Open tennis tournament, the Cincinnati Open Sporting Club, and the Grizzly Golf Course. This new overarching campus highlights the historical grounds used for professional tennis and golf for 54 years.
Officials from the City of Mason, the Cincinnati Open, and the Grizzly Golf Course joined to unveil the new Legacy Park branding and celebrate the milestone of the continued growth and development of this exceptional community asset.
Over the past two years, the tennis and golf campus has continued to evolve and transform. In 2025, the Cincinnati Open welcomed tennis players, officials, fans and volunteers to a truly transformed experience. The transformed Lindner Family Tennis Center, owned by the City and reimagined by the Cincinnati Open, quickly elevated the tournament to be named the ATP and WTA’s “2025 1000 Tournament of the Year”. Since the conclusion of the 2025 tournament, work continued to finalize construction on facilities and build programming for tennis, pickleball and racquet sports. During the winter months, golf pro shop operations were moved to a new home at 6100 Legacy Park Way forming a collaborative environment and enhancing the overall experience for golfers and patrons.
Branding this campus provides an opportunity for Mason to create a powerful identity that blends athletic excellence with community engagement in a unique and exciting sense of place – Legacy Park – along this dynamic corridor in the community.

This innovative campus blends wellness opportunities such as top-tier golf, tennis and racquet sports with a premier dining and entertainment venue. Legacy Park is a vibrant gathering space, where both wellness pursuits and social celebrations come together. At Legacy Park, every visit embraces the spirit of connection, competition and wellness to create lasting memories – a true legacy in Mason for generations to come.
The City’s reputation for collaboration will continue to drive the success of this new amenity and sustain the long-term history of golf and tennis in the community. Founded in 1899, the Cincinnati Open has called Cincinnati home for over 125 years, with the last 47 years in Mason. The tournament is the oldest tennis event in the U.S. held in its place of origin and is the second largest summer tennis event in the U.S. after the U.S. Open. It shares its status with the Miami Open, Indian Wells Open, Italian Open and Matura Madrid Open. The men’s event is a Masters 1000 level tournament on the ATP Tour and the women’s event is a WTA 1000 level event on the WTA Tour. Rounding out the super nine top tier tournaments around the globe are the Canadian Open, Monte-Carlo Masters, Paris Masters and the Shanghai Masters.
Volunteerism and philanthropy are at the core of what has grown the tennis tournament to the top-notch international sporting event it is today. The inspiration began over 45 years ago with a group of prominent Cincinnatians who formed Tennis for Charity (TFC), a non-profit organization, that devised a unique way to use the tournament to support their philanthropy including growing tennis in the region by helping inner city youth.
In 1979, a stadium designated specifically for the event found a home in Mason. In 2002, the City of Mason’s relationship with Tennis for Charity grew as the City provided a financial commitment to retain and continue to grow the event. In 2010, the new west building, known as the Paul Flory Player Center, opened and in 2011 and 2012 the tournament announced significant upgrades to the facility and grounds. In 2011, the men’s and women’s tournaments combined into a 10-day event and the facility featured a total of 17 courts, including four tennis stadiums – Center Court, Grandstand Court, Stadium 3, and Porsche Court 10 – becoming one of the few venues other than the Grand Slams with more than two permanent stadiums. The footprint at that time provided 23 acres of space for players, media and fans, a ticket office, entry plaza, food court and exhibit areas for fans to enjoy a close-up experience with the top men and women tennis greats in the world. At the time the event boasted over $80 million in annual economic impact.
In 2023, news broke that the new owner of the Cincinnati Open, Beemok Capital, was entertaining a proposal to move the longstanding tournament to Charlotte, North Carolina, threatening to end 124 years of storied tennis history in Cincinnati. To prevent this globally recognized, premier sporting event from leaving the region, $260 million in public and private funding was pledged for an expansion to secure the future of tennis in the region and revitalize the Lindner Family Tennis Center in partnership with the City of Mason, Warren County, the State of Ohio, and Beemok Capital. The City of Mason’s commitment included the purchase of the tennis facility and adjacent property. A bold vision was laid out to not only accommodate the needs of the tournament’s expansion, but to create a modern, world-class facility that could compete with the greatest tennis campuses in the world, including improvements to existing stadiums, additional practice courts, a new stadium match court, restaurant, offices, indoor tennis and pickleball courts, pro shops and other amenities providing year-round activation of the campus. Immediately following the 2024 tournament and in a little under 365 days, renovations took place just in time for the Cincinnati Open to triumphantly return to a transformed campus for 2025.
