September 2, 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. This milestone is more than a date in history, it is an opportunity to honor the courage, sacrifice and legacy of the brave men and women who shaped our nation and the freedoms we enjoy today.
In recognition of this anniversary, the City of Mason Board of Veterans’ Affairs, in partnership with the American Legion Post 194, are planning a special tribute to express the community’s deepest gratitude and respect to World War II veterans and ensure that their legacy is honored and remembered by future generations. As their numbers grow fewer, it is our responsibility to preserve their stories and pay tribute to their service.
The City is looking to connect with World War II veterans in the community to learn more about their experience in the war and honor them in a respectful and meaningful way. Whether through conversation, a video interview, photographs or memorabilia, the City looks forward to connecting with local World War II veterans to educate and remind the community of the incredible contributions that were made by this generation of service members.
WWII veterans that reside in Mason or their family members and friends are encouraged to connect with the City to learn more about efforts to recognize the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. Please contact Barbara Bennett-Heck at 513.229.8500 or by email at [email protected].
