July 4, 2026, marks 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence, a pivotal moment in American history and the journey to freedom. As our nation approaches the 250th anniversary of its founding in 2026, the City of Mason is proud to join communities across the country and the state of Ohio in commemorating this historic milestone.
America 250 is more than a celebration, it is a moment to reflect on our history as a Nation, honor those who shaped it, and imagine the future we want to create for the next generation. The City of Mason is proud to be a designated America 250-Ohio community and looks forward to providing opportunities in 2026 for the community to come together, celebrate our heritage and demonstrate our patriotism.
Ongoing Opportunities
Community members are invited to help kick off the City of Mason’s year-long America 250 celebration by participating in the following initiatives:
In honor of our nation’s 250th anniversary, community members are invited to complete 250 minutes of community service throughout 2026. This initiative encourages the community to come together to give back in meaningful ways that strengthen our community while honoring the values of service and civic responsibility that define American history. Community members can complete and submit the community service form to [email protected] to receive an America250 themed giveaway.

250 Minutes of Wellness Challenge: Participate in a fun, community wide wellness challenge that encourages participants of all ages to explore the various wellness amenities and recreational opportunities available in the Mason community. Access the America250 wellness challenge by clicking here.
Community members are encouraged to complete at least 15 of the 30 activities outlined in the America 250 wellness challenge! Once complete, participants can submit electronically to [email protected] to receive an America250 themed giveaway.
Discover Mason’s rich history through a self-guided historical walking tour provided in partnership with the Mason Historical Society! Throughout 2026, Mason Community Players will celebrate our nation’s semi-quincentennial by bringing history to life with several America250-themed productions. As the City of Mason celebrates America’s 250th anniversary throughout 2026, community members are invited to come together to share their American story. Community members are asked to share in one word, what America means to you. Submissions will become a part of a video compilation that showcases the diverse perspectives, values and hopes that unite us as a community and as a country. The City of Mason intends to share the completed video as part of 2026 Red, Rhythm and Boom on Friday, July 3, 2026.
Community members interested in sharing what America means to you in one word can send their video to [email protected]. If recording via a mobile device, please hold your phone horizontally while recording your video to ensure the best quality for the final video. To ensure that this initiative can be enjoyed by all ages, only family-friendly words appropriate for public viewing will be used in the final video.
The City of Mason invites local organizations and community groups to be part of this year’s celebration.
