The City of Mason is proud to honor the men and women who served our country in the Armed Forces.  The month of May provides the opportunity for the Mason community to express gratitude to all the servicemen, women, and their families for the sacrifices they have made to protect our Nation. Memorial Day also provides the opportunity for the City to pay respect to military personnel who lost their lives protecting our freedoms.

Join the City in honoring our nation’s heroes by participating in one of the many initiatives taking place throughout the month of May as well as taking the time to honor those who lost their lives in the line of service as part of Memorial Day events on Monday, May 25.

The City of Mason, in partnership with the American Legion Post 194 in Mason, will host the annual Memorial Day Parade, Ceremony and Community Picnic on Monday, May 25. New this year the City will host a community picnic immediately following the Memorial Day
Ceremony in celebration of America250.

Memorial Day activities will kick off with the annual parade hosted by the American Legion Post 194 beginning at 10:00 a.m. The parade begins at the American Legion located at 401 Reading Road and will travel north along State Route 42, turn right onto Mason Montgomery Road, and conclude by turning left onto Foxfield Drive, ending at the Mason Municipal Center.

Following the parade, join the American Legion in partnership with the City of Mason for the Memorial Day Ceremony located in the parking lot of the Municipal Center, adjacent to the Mason Veterans Memorial.  If inclement weather occurs, the Ceremony will be hosted inside the Municipal Center. At the conclusion of the Ceremony, family, friends, and visitors are invited to join the City and the American Legion for a Community Picnic at the Mason Municipal Campus.

As you gather with family and friends this Memorial Day, the City encourages the community to take a moment to recognize the true meaning of the holiday and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.  Participation in the annual parade and ceremony is a meaningful way to demonstrate gratitude, reflect together and ensure their sacrifice is never forgotten. This year’s Memorial Day ceremony will feature guest speaker U.S. Army veteran Pastor Rob Rhodes and a special performance by the Mason Community Band.

Following the Ceremony, gather with family and friends from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. for the America250 Community Picnic including an afternoon of live music by the 122nd Ohio Army National Guard Band, activities, crafts, food trucks and adult beverages provided by the American Legion Post 194.

In addition, the public is welcome to join the VFW Post 9622 as they host a memorial ceremony at the gravesite of founding member, Robert N. Mount in Rose Hill Cemetery beginning at 11:00 a.m. Rose Hill Cemetery is located across the street from the Mason Municipal Center at 171 Mason Montgomery Road.
