The City of Mason is recognizing our nation’s veterans and active military with month-long activities and events in honor of Veterans Day and Mason becoming a Purple Heart City. Join the City in honoring our nation’s heroes this month by participating in one of the many initiatives taking place throughout the City.
Purple Heart City Ceremony
Join the City in celebration of Mason becoming a Purple Heart City! More than 900 cities across the country have taken the step to declare themselves a Purple Heart City. This recognition offers a continuous reminder and tribute to the 1.7 million Americans who have received a Purple Heart medal and provides a way to commemorate their sacrifice to our nation.
The public is invited to attend a special ceremony at the Mason City Council Meeting on Monday, November 9 at 6:00 p.m. at the Mason Municipal Center to celebrate Mason becoming an official Purple Heart City.
The community is encouraged to wear purple on Wednesday, November 11 in honor of Mason becoming a Purple Heart City.
Free Golf and Meal at Mason Golf Center
The City of Mason would like to say thank you to our Nation’s veterans and present military personnel for their service to our country. Past and present military are welcome to present their Military ID at the City of Mason Golf Center located at 6042 Fairway Drive for a free round of golf. Veterans and active military can take advantage of this special offer from Monday, November 9 through Sunday, November 15. CAC, VIC, DD214, Certificate of Service, Military ID and Retired Military ID are acceptable forms of identification for the free round of golf.
In addition, all past and present military are welcome to receive a free meal throughout the month of November at the Courseview Restaurant at the Mason Golf Center with a valid Military ID. This offer is limited to one per customer. Reservations are encouraged and can be made by calling Courseview Restaurant at 513.573.3321.
Free Admission to the Mason Community Center
Veterans and active military personnel are welcome to visit the Mason Community Center for free admittance beginning Monday, November 16 through Sunday, November 22.
Active and retired military are also eligible for 20% off monthly membership rates at the Mason Community Center! New military memberships get the first month free with proper military identification, family member military ID card, retired military ID card, veteran ID card, or certificate of service.
The City of Mason in partnership with the Warren County Recorder’s Office and the Warren County Veterans Services Commission will be hosting a two-day outreach event aimed at educating veterans on all of the services, resources and benefits available to veterans in Warren County. The Veterans Services RV will be stationed outside of the Mason Community Center on November 9 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and November 10 from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. This outreach event is also an opportunity for veterans to receive their free State of Ohio Veteran ID card. Veterans can receive state Veteran ID cards at no charge by presenting a valid DD214 (with an honorable discharge). Veterans can also receive a certified copy of their DD214 at no additional charge.
