Stay Safe – Turn on Emergency Alerts  

Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS)

In the case of extreme inclement weather or emergencies, the City of Mason will communicate emergency alert notifications through the Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS). Text message notifications will automatically be received by all mobile devices in the geographical area potentially impacted by the threat.

Members of the public will not need to subscribe to receive these notifications but will need to ensure ‘Public Safety Alerts’ are turned on in their mobile device settings.

Please go through the following steps to confirm these are turned on in your mobile device:

iPhone

• Open Settings App
• Scroll Down, Tap ‘Notifications’
• Scroll to the Bottom, find ‘Government Alerts’
• Turn on ‘Amber Alerts’ and ‘Public Safety Alerts’

Android

• Go to Settings
• Search ‘Wireless Emergency Alerts’
• Turn on ‘Amber Alerts’ and ‘Public Safety Alerts’
