The month of May provides the opportunity for the Mason community to come together and express gratitude to all the servicemen, women, and their families for the sacrifices they have made to protect our Nation. Join the City of Mason, in partnership with American Legion Post 194 and VFW Post 9622 in honoring our Nation’s heroes this month by participating in one of the many initiatives taking place throughout the City. The City of Mason is proud to honor the men and women who served our country in the Armed Forces not just throughout the month of May but every day of the year.

The City of Mason and American Legion Post 194 are excited for the return of the annual Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony. The parade takes place on Monday, May 26 beginning at 10:00 a.m. The parade begins in Downtown Mason traveling along State Route 42 and then turns right and heads south on Mason Montgomery Road concluding at the Mason Municipal Center via Foxfield Drive. Immediately following the conclusion of the parade, the community is encouraged to gather inside Mason Municipal Center for the annual Memorial Day Ceremony hosted by the American Legion Post 194. The ceremony is anticipated to begin at 11:00 a.m.

Following the ceremony inside the Mason Municipal Center, the public is welcome to join the VFW Post 9622 at 12:00 p.m. as they host a memorial ceremony at Rose Hill Cemetery to honor the Post’s founding member, Robert N. Mount. The ceremony will take place at his gravesite. Rose Hill Cemetery is located across the street from the Mason Municipal Center at 171 Mason Montgomery Road.

Veterans and active military members are encouraged to join the City of Mason, in partnership with Casting Freedom, for the third annual Veterans Fishing Event on Saturday, June 7 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Pine Hill Lakes Park. Casting Freedom is a local non-profit organization that provides fishing programs and equipment for veterans and Gold Star families in order to create opportunities to get out on the water and receive the therapeutic benefits of the outdoors. Veterans and active military members who register for the event are eligible to receive a free fishing pole and bait while supplies last. Come connect with other area veterans while enjoying the outdoors.

The City of Mason would like to say thank you to our Nation’s past and present military personnel for their service to our country. Veterans and active military personnel are welcome to visit the Mason Community Center for FREE Monday, May 12 through Sunday, May 18. Active and retired military are also eligible for 20% off monthly membership rates at the Mason Community Center! New military memberships receive the first month FREE.

In addition to complimentary admission to Mason Community Center, past and present military are welcome to enjoy a free round of golf at The Grizzly Golf and Social Lodge located at 6042 Fairway Drive. Veterans and active military can take advantage of this special offer Monday, May 19 through Monday, May 26. Veterans are encouraged to schedule their round of golf in advance by calling 513.398.7700.
All past and present military are also welcome to receive a free meal at the Grizzly’s Great 18 Bar and Grill beginning Monday, May 19 through Monday, May 26. Reservations at the Great 18 Bar and Grill are encouraged and can be made by calling 513.398.7700.

Veterans and active military personnel are welcome to visit the Mason Municipal Aquatic Center leisure pool and enclosed 50-meter pool for FREE throughout opening weekend, Saturday, May 24 through Monday, May 26!
