The City of Mason remains committed to maintaining a community that is a thriving and livable environment where residents and businesses feel proud and secure.
The intent of the City of Mason Exterior Property Maintenance Code is to establish minimum standards for maintaining existing structures and premises to ensure a reasonable level of health, safety, and welfare while also eliminating blighting factors within the community. The Exterior Property Maintenance Code applies to both residential and commercial properties.
The City’s approach to property maintenance is complaint based. When a property maintenance complaint is received, City staff investigate. If a violation of the City’s property maintenance code is confirmed, the property owner is contacted. Generally, a door hanger is left at the property identifying the violation and giving the property owner a deadline to resolve. The City will work with the property owner for additional time to resolve the violation given progress is being communicated.
